When pursued by Demon Dao forces, he bravely stayed behind with a group of Foundation Establishment cultivators, including Han Li, to act as a diversion. He used his treasure, the Wind Cloud Banner, to conceal them for an ambush, but they were counter-ambushed. He engaged two enemy Core Formation cultivators to buy time for the others to flee.
